The nurse found the heartbeat right away, but our little one had plans of his or her own! Crackerjack kept flipping and kicking and running away which made it very hard to get the heart tones. The nurse said, "Your baby sure is active running around in there!" My response? "Then it's definitely it's daddy's baby!" All I can imagine is this tiny three-inch baby acting like my uterus is a baseball field practicing how fast he or she can run the bases! The Doppler took quite the beating from our active little munchkin. :)
Our next appointment is November 11, but we'll only be a couple days away from being 18 weeks so we have to schedule another visit at twenty weeks or so to find out if we're having a boy or girl!
Lots of people have been talking about whether they think it's a girl or boy. One of my favorites so far have been my three-year-old nephew, Ayden, who pointed at my belly and said, "There's a girl in there," just as matter-of-fact as if he'd told me he went outside to play on the swing set that day.
Another was from one of my 8th graders. While debating in my second block whether it was going to be a girl or boy, one of my kids, a boy himself, said, "Uh, guys. You know all babies start out girls anyways!" All the 14 year-old-boys looked at me in shock and worry that he might be right. :)
Also news to us, Dr. Kennebeck said the baby can hear us, so Steve has taken to talking to my belly. It is seriously the sweetest thing EVER.
In addition, I thought I'd put in a picture of Steve and his new"Daddy Bag" he found in Chicago which was his idea for when we go hiking, on longer trips, and just helping out so I don't have to carry so much once our baby finally arrives. Little Crackerjack and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and daddy in our life!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."
Matthew 22:37
