Cohen is 26 weeks, Momma is 28 years :)

The past couple of weeks can only be summed up in one word: illness. Thursday, in the wake of my last few days of break, I started feeling a bit under the weather. By three o'clock, I was chilling, couldn't get warmed up, and decided to take my temperature. From three to five, it climbed to 101. My doctor had me immediately take two extra strength Tylenol warning me of two things. First, Cohen can't be over heated for too long, and second, if my temperature didn't come down by eight o'clock, I'd have to go to the emergency room.

Thankfully, it came back to normal by 7:30. Feeling bad for the next couple days, I just relaxed trying to get better, but then came the cough. Oh my, the cough. It is over a week later and this stupid cough seems to have just stuck with me like a bad habit. Then, yesterday, I woke up with pink eye, so back to the doctor I went!

We did have a regular check-up OB appointment Tuesday. My belly measures great, I'm gaining weight like I should be, and Cohen's heart rate was 145, which is in the normal range.Things are looking good, but sleep is hard because of this cough, not just for me, but Steve, too. Poor thing wore ear plugs last night to try and get some sleep, and then when I woke up this morning, he had a pillow over his head to muffle the sound as well. We both can't wait for this cough to get out of here!

Another challenge I've been faced with as of late worse than normal is Cohen's incessant need to "jump" on my bladder. What a feeling! Somewhere between OUCH! and GET ME TO THE BATHROOM NOW! lies the feeling of another person on your bladder. It's definitely a feeling I'll never forget!

During week 25, Cohen's room got painted! Friday, Aunt Stephanie came over and helped Daddy paint Cohey's nursery! It felt like such an accomplishment. Now, all we have to do is put furniture in and do a little decorating!

Grandpa Marshall came over to help us hang the curtain rod
We found these cute, vintage covers for a couple light switches

Here's the curtains...we obviously haven't sorted out where all this baby stuff is going to go!
This was Stephen's toy box when he was a little boy. His daddy made it for him, then he repainted it for Cohen. When Cohen has his children, he can pass it on to them, too. :)

NOT feeling very good...25 weeks pregnant

Baby's Growth and Development at 25 Weeks Pregnant

During the 25th week of pregnancy, your baby uses his tiny developing hands to learn about himself and his environment. Here's what else is going on:
  • This week, your baby weighs about a pound and a half, and is about the length of a small cantaloupe.
  • Reach for the stars! When you're 25 weeks pregnant, your baby's hands are fully developed. He even can make a fist.
  • The nerve connections in his hands continue to develop.
  • He uses his hands to explore his environment
26 Weeks Along/28th birthday

For my 28th birthday, I was sick...still. So, Steve took me to get some Mexican food for dinner, but other than that I was pretty much house-bound. Steve's parents got me a really pretty pair of garnet butterfly earrings they sent over with Steve when he came home from visiting them today, and Steve says there's many more things to come once I feel better and am not contagious! Here's how big I am and how big our Cohen John is getting this week

Baby's Growth and Development at 26 Weeks Pregnant

At 26 weeks pregnant, it's exciting to think about what your baby looks like as his appearance becomes more refined:
  • By the 26th week of pregnancy, your baby weighs 1 1/2 to 2 pounds, and is about the length of a small pineapple.
  • Your baby's eyebrows and eyelashes are well formed.
  • His eyes are fully developed — he will start to open and close them at around 28 weeks.
  • The hair on his head grows and thickens.
  • Little footprints and fingerprints form.
  • He starts using his lungs to mimic breathing.
  • Essential fats accumulate under his skin.
