My best friend, Kimberly is an amazing girl. She is so kind, fun, easy to talk to, a wonderful and amazing mommy, a loving wife, and just an all around great person. I am so blessed to have her in my life. As if meeting Steve wasn't enough, the first day he and I spent time together, the Lord also brought Kimberly into my life. Since then, my life has been better in so many ways. I love you, Kimber! Love, Drew. :)
Kimber and me
Last night Kimberly put together and hosted a baby shower for me at her house. This included our Covenant Creek girls, and it was a blast! We had so much fun laughing, playing games, spending time in prayer, and opening great gifts! Thank you girls so much for being amazing women and mothers to look up to and of course for making me feel so loved.
This is my Ele cake Kimber picked out...how cute!? It had white chocolate mousse and raspberry filling....VERY TASTY!!
Kimber made homemade crackerjack favors, the girls all signed a baseball, the picture of Steve playing baseball is for Cohen's room, and of course a few extra diapers can never hurt ;)
My sweet Allison was a wonderful present passer-outer-er :D
Kimber made these cards that go on a ribbon for Cohen's room. The girls filled them with scripture and prayers for our family and our little boy then read them aloud to me. I can't wait to read them to Cohen!
The girls brought tons of diapers and wipes. Word on the street is we'll be needing these like crazy... :)
A little onesie that is made to look like a baseball uniform...it says, "Heartbreaker" and Steve LOVES it! :) Thanks, Anna and Dave!
We have a shower on Sunday from Steve's side of the family, and then one more March 9th from my team at school. After that, we'll finish buying the rest of what's left on the registry, put together the furniture, and wait patiently for Cohen. Only a few more weeks until we're Mommy and Daddy!
I've noticed some definite changes in this past week of pregnancy. I have just really started feeling super tired. Teaching wears me out in a way it never has before. Every step I take feels like my hip bones are splitting in half. I'm up all night with heartburn. I am definitely bigger than I ever imagined my body could ever stretch...ever. It's so crazy to go through this.....
AND YET.....this is the absolute most wonderful time in my life. Cohen rolls around jabbing me in ways that sometimes takes my breath away, but he's there. He's ours. A perfect combination of me and my very best friend in this whole world. I cannot wait to hold my Cohey. Kiss him, love him, and tell him every day how we've been waiting for him for so long.
We watch Kimberly and Matt with Liam. Their love for him is just so beyond measure. I can't wait for that. For our family to grow. For Cohen to come and complete things, shake things up, and even stress things out at times. This piece of advice from my mother keeps rolling around in my head, "We only get to raise our babies once." I absolutely cannot wait for all the love, fun, and even challenges that lay ahead. God has so perfectly executed his plan. We are living it, and praising Him for all He has brought us through and definitely all He has brought us to. Thank you, LORD for your grace and love.
33 WEEKS:
The big news this week is lung development—baby's respiratory system is almost completely mature. That means if your baby was born this week, odds are he'd be a healthy bouncing baby with a just a little help from his friends (aka, the NICU). Some of the specifics are:Your baby can now detect light and tell the difference between night and day (of course that ability will miraculously disappear once he's born and up all night screaming). His pupils will constrict and dilate in response to light. If you shine a flashlight on your belly, your baby may shy away from the light as if to say, "Cut it out, Ma. You're soooo annoying."
The bones in your baby's skull are soft and are not yet fused together. In other words, now is not the time to teach him how to do a headspin while breakdancing. This pliability allows the bones to overlap; making that trip down the tight birth canal possible (and resulting in that surprising cone head look your baby will sport for the first few days post-birth. Don't worry, it's totally normal and that's what hats are for.)
Your baby will continue to pack on the pounds gaining around ½ pound a week from here on out.
Your baby weighs about 4½ pounds, as much as a grownup duck, and is approximately 17.5 inches long.
I am so blessed that you came so suddenly into our lives and I so cannot wait for cohen to get here! We are going to have so much fun with our boys this summer. Love you!
