Seven Months of Thanks

The past seven months has flown by. I try so hard to hang on to every moment. Every smile. Every kiss. But no matter how hard I try to pause this beautiful time in my life, it seems the clock keeps moving faster and faster.

Cohen John is the most wonderful baby boy. This month, some of the biggest changes have been so fun to watch. It seems he wakes every morning with a new way to surprise us!

First, Cohen got sick for the second time in his life. Since it lasted a little longer than normal we ended up having to put him on antibiotics! Poor little bug.

Something fun this month that we realized...wiggling toes puts him into a full-on cackle! He loves anything having to do with socks, so we grabbed some clean socks and made some "sock soup" this month which he LOVED!

I am so surprised by how rough he is already! If we lay on the floor, he likes to lay on us and smush his face on ours and crack up! He opens his mouth up wide and while yelling, "AHHH!" he tries to "eat" our noses!

Cohen is SO close to crawling, but since he's weighing in at a very solid 20 pounds, he hasn't quite mastered it yet. However, he is up on all fours, belly off the ground, and rocks back and forth. Sometimes he will rock himself so hard that he scoots himself forward a little!

Our big man is pulling up and can hold onto things like the couch, even standing for short times by himself.

The biggest surprises this month were both waving "bye bye" and "hi" which is no longer with his whole arm, but just his hand. He stares at his hand like, "How are you doing that?"

The next biggest surprise happened when Mom came by to watch Cohen so we could test drive our new Jeep. As she was leaving,  we do our usual "I love you" sign. He  looked at mom's hand, brought his hand out, and pulled those two middle fingers down and held it out! He did it a few times after that, too! Granted, with his hand flipped over it looked more like Spiderman shooting his web, but STILL! :)

Every year, about this time, we get together with our housemates from Miami. It is such fun! We have a big dinner that starts with hands joined in prayer in thanks that we are all still together, and always ends in laughter and lots of memories made. This year was definitely different than every year since 2006! Cohen and his friend Liam were both there as well as two little ones just waiting to be born! Cohen partied the night away even though he was sick. The best part was when he spit up on Marc who was holding him to get some practice for his baby due in January!

Last, but definitely not least, we started a new family tradition in going out to cut down our own Christmas tree! Cohen absolutely loved every single moment of it, and we loved that we got it all in before it started pouring the rain!

SO thankful for this life. Praising God for all his glory and grace. Thank you, LORD for our beautiful family. <3

There were some we didn't get to post last month from Halloween, so here they are! Poor Steve had to miss it because it was the last day of the month and he was stuck at work. :(

Cousins on their first Halloween together
Mommy and Coco before heading out to trick or treat!
 Sweetie baby lion
Daddy and I thought this hat would be cute...we were right :)
Cohen's new hippity hop dino which he loves!
LOVE this pic. We had just made Ruthanne (our nanny) a Thanksgiving card and had washed paint off of him.
Happy Thanksgiving! Cohen never gets to watch TV, but we broke the "rules" to see his first Macy's Day Parade. Here he is in his turkey hat on his first Thanksgiving watching the parade.
Cohen's cousin, Nola at his Great Aunt Sarah's for Thanksgiving. They are only a few days apart in age!
 Cohen and our niece, Cassidy.
Cohen and his daddy have formed the sweetest, most special bond.

At Grammy's, after Thanksgiving dinner, the kids made cookies to eat while we watched The Grinch together, our yearly tradition!
The kids wrestling with Grammy. Cohen will be able to jump in soon enough, but not just yet!
Cohen with his great Aunt Debbie.
 Love this.
 Cohen and his Aunt Em.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Mommy on the left, Cohen in the middle, and Daddy and Peanut on the right.
Arriving at the Christmas tree farm!
We found it! Our very first family tree! Here's Daddy cutting it down and Cohen watching closely.
Daddy explaining the first Nativity Cohen has ever seen and what Christmas is really all about. We loved it here. There was free hot cocoa, which Cohen LOVED when we let him try a couple drops. There were even reindeer!
We were so proud of our little man. He didn't cry at all when he met Santa! He was very interested in his beard and Santa had to tell him , "Oh! We don't pull Santa's beard!" :)

Cohen's first bon fire. He loves any activity outside and this was no exception! This place had everything!
Cohen with his big brother's ornament. Missing our sweet baby most at Christmas time...<3
Steve's mom wanted to get the kids together for their Christmas card...these are a few of the shots we got in that day! Organizing a five-year-old,  three-year-old, and eight-month-old to do the same thing at the same time ....quite the challenge! :)
